Mac move a file from downloads to home

Task Scheduler is going to help you with that. You can create a task in this utility app, and ask it to run your script according to your chosen schedule. Task Scheduler will run your batch script at the specified time and frequency. When this happens, the script will start moving files from your source folder over to your destination folder. If you ever want to disable the automatic move of your files, open Task Scheduler , find your task in the list, and click Delete on the right.

This deletes your task and prevents the batch script from automatically running. Setting up an automatic transfer of files is relatively easy on macOS. This is because you only need to use one app to write as well as schedule your script on a Mac.

Using this app, you can create a Folder Action that moves your files from one folder to another without any extra user interaction. From now on, whenever you place a file in your source folder, Automator will move the file to the destination folder.

While using this Automator task, be careful about your Downloads folder. This is because most browsers tend to store temporary versions of the files that are still being downloaded. Automator will move those half-downloaded files and this can cause your downloads to fail.

Select "Export Unmodified Original For Click Export Originals. This may take some time to finish, depending on how many images you've amassed. Click and drag the Music folder icon to your external hard drive in the side menu, and hold the mouse button down until the window shows the contents of the external hard drive. Move the Music folder to the Exported Files folder and release the mouse button. The files will begin to copy, and depending on the size of your library, this might take some time.

Select additional directories if you want to bring them over. If you subscribe to any Apple services, you only need to log into your iCloud account for the appropriate service—Music, TV, Arcade, News, etc.

Your music and movie library, favorite shows, games, channels, and magazines will all sync and be ready to go.

The same goes for the other Apple apps you use: Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Safari, Photos, and Notes, as well as any stored passwords in your keychain. Just head over to the Apple Account tab in System Preferences or iCloud in pre-Catalina macOS and make sure everything you want to sync is checked off. Once they appear, you merely need to drag out the relevant files to your desktop and download any documents you want to store locally by clicking on the cloud icon.

For example, if you want to save all of your downloads, simply drag the folder from your old Mac into your iCloud Drive and drag it out again on your new Mac.
