Varia9 gmail. Comment by As of 2. I'd leave off him until Blizz can fix this, especially as it broke 2 of the addons that made this fight cake. Comment by Typhon Downed him tonight 2. No invisible orbs, no orbs under the ground, no other issues at all except that there is no announce.
Still very easy as long as people pay attention. Comment by atomhead It's helpful to increase your camera distance further than max using an addon such as ImprovedCamera to avoid the orbs. There's also a script command you can use google "increase camera distance WoW". Comment by Socri As melee you can avoid the damage of Pounding by just pressing space.
You have to be off the ground when it normally strikes you. We killed Void Reaver yesterday with my guild and i managed it to sometimes avoid all three Pounding strikes. Try this on your next raid. Comment by arukomp , HP? Wasn't it something like 4 million hp? You also need at least 1, but preferebly 2, classes that have an easy time moving at range - we used 2 Hunters. The basic idea is that everyone, except the Hunters, run to the middle and park themselves under Void Reaver.
The Hunters will stay at range and proceed to avoid Orbs like normal, though not really caring much about their DPS. When the Pounding hits the group, all AoE healers take care of the group while the Paladins heal the tanks, tossing other people heals should it be needed. The pros of this method are quite obvious, DPS never has to move and can just continue nuking. Healers also don't risk going out of range of the tanks, which would be nasty.
Cons are also obvious, everyone takes more damage though not terribly hard to heal through, especially not if everyone brings their Violet Badge and should an orb for any reason hit the raid it's pretty much an inevetible wipe.
We did this on our first kill, nobody was outgearing the encounter in any way we killed Solarian the first time the day before, and Lurker downed three times. Comment by camane after much thought and changes blizzard has "fixed" void reaver they re-instituted the combat messages produced by his orbs, however the new combat messages DO NOT include target information what this means is that a mod CAN tell you when he fires and orb, but it CAN NOT tell you at whom or where it will land this is the way that it is implied blizzard intends to keep the fight after 2.
Comment by A similar strategy is to zoom out farther than far. Using this command it was suggested in my raid that we use a value of 4 , you can scroll out far enough that you can still see yourself and your surroundings, but you can also see the top of VR's head and can tell when there is an Arcane Orb headed in your direction. Also, a note to resto druids doing this fight: the way our raid did this was to put one tree in the tank group and another tree in a melee group in such a way that no group buffs would be sacrificed.
Both trees stood under VR with the melee and resto shammies and healed from there. Pounding damage is easily healed up during Pounding cooldown. Just roll Lifebloom on the active tank and spam Lifebloom for raid heals in between refreshes.
In my raid last night we all agreed that, while VR isn't the walk in the park that it used to be, this is probably how the devs wanted us to do the fight. It involved a little relearning, but it's still easy. Comment by D4NK You can actually have one of the off tanks intervene block the knock back on the MT if timed correctly. Comment by defektunge You most certainly do not need to do anything to avoid the damage from pounding.
No resistance gear, no moving out and risking having orbs hit the melee and tanks , nothing like that. The key here is to have the melee healers ideally a pair of restoration shamans standing in with the melee under the boss.
They'll take damage from the pounding and thus slightly increase the strain on healing, but since they will not have to move away from orbs they can spam heal for the whole fight without worrying about movement and silences. As long as they can keep their mana up it's a long fight, so use mana pots early and often , you shouldn't have to worry about any meleers dying. Try it. I can guarantee that you won't regret it. Comment by ive seen the orbs target totems from shamans, i placed my totems on the ground and during the duration of the fight got moved away from them and no one was near them for about 20 yards and an orb flew over to them and a hunte rsaw this and was like " WTF i just saw an orb go after the totems", i dont know if this is true but it seems like it happened, dont know if it is totally correct.
Comment by No more loot reaver, i just fought him, without dbm or alarm working he is x harder. All healers and ranged dps now have to spend the whole time looking up and watching for orbs, so you will have to pay ALOT of attention to do this fight without dying. Now much harder than solarian, but still easy enough for near end-game. Comment by He acts like he's on an inviable motor cycle before you pull him.
Comment by Last night we tried as suggested above, we had two groups stand at his feet. Both priest equiped their Violet Badge average resist poundings. On the second attempt lost ranged and enraged on try one we discovered that keeping a Prayer of Healing in the pipe allowed us mana regen time, excellent healing and only had to use CoH to top off.
Not having to dodge orbs and get silenced for 6 seconds was a much needed relief for this boss fight. Thanks WoWhead. Comment by D4NK Trust me folks, while most guilds come in here thinking "time to get my tier 5 pads because he is just SO easy" he really isnt as easy as most think he is. The truth with VR is you still need: smart ranged dps and just good melee to beat enrage timer decently geared tanks with good agro generation.
Smart healers. Now that Void Reaver no longer targets anyones he throws orbs at, and now that the initial orb throwage isnt recorded in the combat log, no add on can track where he throws orbs, thus making this fight alot harder. This guy was orginally called "loot reaver" because the adds inside his room could be controlled and you could spam saw blade and loot reaver until he died due to a 0 second cooldown on saw blade. He was never called loot reaver due to the terms of his difficulty.
The claims of this guy being easier than HKM or even prince malchezzar are completely bogus. Helps healers a lot and keeps you going. Comment by Cannonfodder fixed as of 2.
Oh yeah they the ranged DPS and healers need to have a brain to understand that a large arcane orb floating towards them is a bad thing. Comment by Raous As melee never never never run out of the pouding. Yes, you won't take damage from it. But, but if you get an Arcane Orb on you tanks and other melee dps will get hit too.
Comment by Quick tip for anyone messing around since 3. Comment by Ok, no one mentioned if he was immune to Engineers with a Gnomish Remote? I'm assuming so, is he really?
Has anyone here tried to slow him down with such? Comment by Lince Easily killed by 5players with Naxx25 gear at Just bring one tank, one healer and three dps's and you can manage both the annoying trash and Void Reaver himself. Comment by nyctric First defeated by Nihilum of Magtheridon on the 11th of March, Comment by Alatar Just did this with 3 in the raid. We had a prot pally tanking, a feral dps, and a random rogue alt running around dodging the arcane orbs but otherwise not contributing anything.
I just salved the feral after the punt and he just switched to bear and took a few hits before aggro switched back to me. We had 45 seconds remaining before enrage when he died. Comment by Alteir Tried to solo this guy on my 85 hunter in blues and greens, as BM spec with a level 85 spirit beast.
Got him down to k before he berserked. Not being able to sting him is a huge drawback - that, combined with the refreshing component of Cobra Shot, would probably have killed him. Outside of berserk he hits fairly weak on a level 85 pet.
Though it's not exactly self-sufficient, I barely had to heal my pet at all. I am going to retry with better gear or a more dps-heavy spec and see if I can down him. Comment by Niniveh Now available as your own personal companion. Used a spirit beast Ghostcrawler , used no heals, because spirit mend worked perfectly. Same tactics as Alteir, running in circles with fox on, the tricky part was to move the pet so that I wouldnt be stuck running in the semi-circle, getting hit by the orbs.
Otherwise, easy fight, I was running recount: Cobra shot: Killed him 9 seconds before enrage timer, on the second try first try was wiith core hound.
Comment by Solo'd as a Survival hunter. Ilvl , lvl gun, 33 sec before enrage. I could have downed him sooner if i had stopped for 0. Barely needed to heal my turtle. Comment by Droper Easy enough to take down with an 85 rogue, managed fine in the basic combat spec with reinforced leather, imp recuperate, quickening, and heroic gear.
No poisons prolongs the fight, so it's mostly about keeping your buffs up and cycling cooldowns. Throw your free gcds into glyphed feints and bring some arcane resistance from forgotten kings or a flask. Had 2 minuets to spare on the enrage and never got too low on health with only moderate preparation. Comment by Easy solo for a surv hunter standard raid spec , just strafe with aspect of the fox on to dps and feign when your pet loses aggro. I stopped to let my auto shots go off for extra dps and that made me take orbs to the face a couple times, but next patch with auto shot on the move this fight will be even easier.
You can go BM with a spirit beast for the self heal if you for some reason can't stop eating orbs, but you should be able to avoid all the damage in this fight without a problem. Edit: I recommend survival as you do wayyyy more dps than BM. Especially since you can't consistently auto shot, and auto shot is a bigger portion of BM's damage than Surv's. Edit2: All of the above info was Cataclysm release patch. With 4. I would also recommend marks instead of survival, since it has higher single-target DPS and chimera shot to heal you.
Marks was a joke of a spec in 4. Comment by lookitsatravis 85 DK here. Downed him in 8 mins, 33 secs. Not a difficult fight with the exception of the constant silence.
Most of our abilities are magic based bone shield, raise dead, IF, AMS, hell, just about everything , so I started the fight with Army of the Dead for a little boost.
I then just ran in and death strike, heart strike, rune strike until the cows came home. Never was in danger of dying, but it's annoying as hell to not be able to use any abilities. But gold, so it's gravy. Most annoying fight I have ever done Because you are the only person in his room, he will constantly spam arcane balls at you. I would spam fel flame while running a circle around him to keep Immo up, just refreshing Corruption and BoD when necessary.
If my pet got low, I would have to try to find a way to health funnel him back to safety. Be careful with threat. During the times when I had to tank boss, I would cast meta you can cast it while silenced and run until shatter was off CD and I wasn't silenced. This fight is really hit and miss, good luck! Comment by Asasyn90 Soloed as a 85 lvl subtlety rogue. Some tips here: -use feint every time it's up to reduce aoe dmg -keep recuperate up obviously You need to clear the trash in order to reach him sap engineer if you face difficulties.
The first attempt I hit the enrage timer because I'm not all that well geared and I spent the entire time in Aspect of the Fox. Rinse, repeat for a quicker kill - the silence has no effect on you as a Hunter. Comment by gnidleif Soloed this quite easily on my 85 Survival Hunter using a Wolf pet, the boss itself is all about just running around in circles far away to avoid the orb damage while your pet does the tanking, just FD on high aggro and MD to your pet, also keep Mend Pet up.
The hard part was killing the trash in the room since they aggro when he's engaged, kill the mechanics and the blood elves first then the big robots, if you die the whole pack will respawn so it's important to focus one down at a time since your pet most likely won't keep aggro on all of them at once unless you're going BM and bringing a Worm or something like that.
Comment by lintelotiel Solo'd as a ret pally, just leave seal of insight on and eat the silence, don't kite and you will heal just a little more than he damages. It sucks to not be able to use a lot of abilities, but you get a few lucky split seconds if he does a arcane orb early before pound you can smash holy radiance for an extra bit of health, or a LoH in that time.
It's a nice g, but an annoying boss for ret pallies. Comment by Brightstar Seeminly impossible to solo as a Fury warrior. Similarly as Prot. Latter not enough dps and TC and DShout both tough to keep with the silences.
Comment by Morbius Soloed as an 85 blood DK. I did it in unholy spec for the extra healing from glyph of dark succor. I was able to get spells off once in a while when there was a break between arcane orbs. Otherwise you can try running through his legs and try to get some spells off. Relatively easy. Quick note to all hunters out there.
Contrary to what other hunters in here say, the Silence does effect us. We cannot swap stances nor cast Mend Pet when we're silenced. At 85 you will inevitable resist a lot of the Arcane Orbs so it makes it a bit easier. I just stood there, fully unloading on him until my health got too low for comfort, ran around avoiding the Arcane Orbs while casting Arcane Shot and Chimera Shot until the silence was up and switched to Aspect of the Fox and continued DPS'ing him Casting Chimera Shot whenever available just avoiding his Arcane Orbs and using Feign Death when drops aggro.
Be careful that you keep Mend Pet up because you cannot cast it when silenced. To be honest, this fight was much easier than the trash in his room. Keep that in mind if you wish to solo him, for ferals that do not have raid gear it will be hard in bear form as you will probably lack a bit dps to manage this fight, at least if you plan to go full Bear form during the whole fight.
Maybe it would be wise to take extra damage and heal up with regeneration but to go cat form for bonus dps. Comment by Pujs Nice fight! As a BM hunter i used a tanking boar pet, and did not heal him once during the encounter. Tried to keep them pet and boss in the middle of the room, while i was running in a circle with VR in the centre. Keep aspect of the fox up so u dodge the incoming orbs and that's about it.
He is immune to serpent sting, and u can get silenced as stated in previous posts. Comment by Easy soloable as a hunter The trash is harder than him. The fight took 8 minutes and 45 seconds, and it was pretty close; would have been much easier if it wasnt for the constant silences. Comment by gtadem Just solo'ed as an 85 retribution paladin with item level.
Commenter above expressed disbelief in SoI being enough to outrun the damage, so I'd be happy to explain. As with solo'ing Ebonroc, the key is the Sacred Shield talent. VR Support. Languages :.
